Our team is an extension of your team! We would love to show you and your customers around the facility. There is nothing better than to see the looks on the faces of our customers when they get to walk through the back of the shop and see how their trophy mount is coming along and what it took to get it done. An order sent in by you ends up touching at least 15 people before the customer gets it at their door.
So we feel it is important for you to see and get to know the entire crew that is here to back you and your business up every time you take a charter out. From Carole, who directs the phone calls coming in, to our New Orders Department, Shipping Department, Fiberglass Shop, Finishing Works, Production Crew, Paint Shop, Crating Development, Inspection Crew, General Management, Accounting, Marketing Department, to Ian and Leo looking out for all of us.
We want to Thank-you for all the hard work you do and believing in us!
We will always look out for and support our Captains! If you ever do get the
chance, please stop by! Trust me – most of us are better looking in person!!!
So... meet the rest of your crew!
The emotional roller coaster experienced by a Gray Taxidermy customer begins the very moment they step on the dock. Today is their big day! Filled with possibility and excitement, not knowing what the ocean has to offer, the customer is anticipating the very best.
The seed has been planted by the captain and mate. Now, the fish is on the line and everyone is excited! What a special day as all eyes and attention are directed to the customer at the end of the rod battling a fish of a lifetime! Because of this perfect day, the customer gives an enthusiastic “Yes”! to mounting their trophy fish. With the trip coming to an end, it’s time for the customer to reflect on their experience. The adrenaline wears off and the soreness of the customer’s arm and shoulder become a reality from fighting their trophy catch.
Our team at Gray Taxidermy wants our boat captains and mates to know how much effort we put into continuing the customer’s experience, once your customer is home and throughout the taxidermy process. We understand the importance of not just selling the mount, but also selling the experience. That’s why we go to great lengths to make the customer feel just as special with Gray Taxidermy as they did the moment they got on your boat.
Each and every customer is welcomed to the Gray Taxidermy Team with a warm ‘Congratulations’ letter. Those who are vacationing in south Florida or live locally are encouraged to stop by for a personal tour of our facility to learn about the taxidermy process and to answer any questions they may have. It is during this time when our employees are able to hear the exciting stories recapped by the customer of their amazing experience on the water.
We take the time to learn the names of the captains and mate(s) and always make sure the customer knows that their captain and mate are great friends of ours and are highly recommended. We are not only selling the customer the highest quality fish mount available, we are also re-selling the trip of a life time.
As always, Gray Taxidermy is here to support and help improve the charter boat industry and will always hold a high level of importance on customer satisfaction.
With the start up of this newsletter, we knew we wanted to highlight our captains and bring you information on what’s happening with Gray Taxidermy. The Captain of the Month and the Mate of the Month program has been a big hit!
The determination of Captain of the month comes from a random drawing. Each month, for every order placed with Gray Taxidermy, the captain’s name will be entered in a drawing. At the end of the month, one name will be drawn from all entries.
The winner will be featured in the following month’s newsletter as the Captain of the Month, and will be awarded REACTORS GRAVITON 2 watch (The Official Watch of Gray Taxidermy) as well as a Trophy plaque with an engraved plate showing them as Captain of month. And if you’re wondering – yes, you can win with only one order! Get as many orders in as you can to increase your chances!
We would like to recognize and applaud the involvement of our sponsors of both of these programs. As mentioned, REACTOR Watches have given us a really cool watch to give away to our Captain of the Month for each newsletter. Costa Del Mar also stepped up to supply a pair of Sunglasses for the Mate of the Month. It’s really awesome each month to get the names pulled and let the winners know! So keep up the good work!
Another Sponsor we want to thank is Pelagic! They have stood behind every program for Captains and Mates, and they understand how important you guys are to their business. They will continue to support the guys who work in the trade and We Love It! Way To Go Pelagic!! So, BIG Thanks to all these sponsors for believing in Gray Taxidermy and our Captains!
Chris Berry is a 26 year native St. Thomian. Growing up exploring the waters of the Atlantic and the Caribbean has made fishing in the Virgin Islands second nature. Chris first started fishing with his dad when he was just 3. He has his 100-ton Masters license.
For the past 6 years, he has worked as a captain for Double Header Sport Fishing based out of St. Thomas, running a 35-foot Sea Vee center console. He also commercially fishes off and on with his dad, pulling lobster pots and hand-lining. When Chris isn't working hard to reel in the pelagic or deep sea dwellers, he enjoys surfing, free-diving, and taking his wife and daughter on recreational boat and fishing trips; his 3 year old is shaping up to be an incredible angler.
From all of us at Gray Taxidermy, congratulations Captain Chris! We truly appreciate everything you do!
Jeff was raised in upstate New York, attended college at St. Lawrence University and spent his summers during those years on Cape Cod where he first got into sport-fishing.
After college, Jeff moved to Florida and worked for some of the “Palm Beach Old School Captains” like, Robert Rast, Fred Hasting, Buddy Tredavo at Sailfish Marina in the 80’s. Later on Jeff moved to Jupiter for 18 years with Elly Brown on Merritt’s Hull #4, Do Stay.
Now, back at Sailfish Marina for the last three years, Jeff worked with Commander Billy Davis in his fleet of Charters with Billy and Frank Pitale Jr. Jeff now resides in North Palm with his wife and three children. The oldest, Erica, is a veterinarian student at UCF, his son, who is in his senior year and a top MLB prospect pitcher and the youngest 6 year old, who really runs the show.
The determination of Mate of the Month comes from a random drawing of all orders turned in during the previous month’s time. As winner of “Mate of the Month - July” Jeff is awarded a plaque from Gray Taxidermy as well as a pair of Blue Mirror 580 Fathom sunglasses from Costa Del Mar. Congratulations Jeff! Way to Get It Done!!!
